I have been eagar to visit Trophy Cupcakes for the past year. The Wallingford location is a bit off the beaten path for me so I was excited when they opened at University Village. It’s no secret that I love cake. All things cake, CAke, CAKE! So for me to try a new cupcake [ahem or two], I say, “I want cake, where’s my cake!” Oh and the cupcakes at Trophy are deeeeelish!

Since Judah and Harper are still a bit young to make Justin a Father’s Day gift, I helped them out. I really wanted to give Justin something special. Something lasting that would mark this year in the life of his boys. So…here is the gift. DSC_0006

to the zoo

After saying, “I don’t know what the boys and I are going to do today?” Justin suggested, “The Zoo!”

To the Zoo we went.

It was Harper’s first time. Which I didn’t realize until half way through our trip. We were greeted by the Giraffe. Not sure what Harper thought of him but I know he loved the Penguins. So much so that I had to pull him away. He was also pretty enamored with the Gorillas. Judah liked most everything. He too was most impressed with the Penguins and the Gorillas. Oh, and the Turkey Vulture. We all rode the carousel. Judah loved! Harper not so much.

Fun day! I’m tired.

I’m sure you have experienced or observed the grocery store trip. Trying to juggle two kids, a cart, a list and bags. All while trying to keep your cool. The grocery stores I frequent only have carts with one seat. AHHHHH! This leaves one child to walk or be carried. With my children it ends up that I have to carry one because he won’t keep his hands off of things. So what do I do when the child in the cart is screaming and the one walking won’t keep his hands off of the grapefruit? Easy, I take the screaming child out and put the grabby child in. HA! Not so easy. Mr. grabby hands WILL NOT get in the cart. I have a screaming boy on one hip and a kicking and screaming boy on the other. Right at this moment I am asking myself, “why the hell is everyone staring and NOT ONE person coming to help me?”

I am so amazed at how afraid people are to help. Afraid or unwilling? I’m not sure which.

Please, I repeat, PLEASE lend a helping hand. I run into hand lending opportunities every week. For example, while at the Post Office (with my boys in stroller) a gal with a newborn baby was trying to package some stuff up while standing in line with a crying baby. So without hesitation I pushed the stroller out of line and walked over to assist her. All I did was put the package together for her and it made her trip that much easier. Yes I had to wait in line a bit longer but isn’t helping someone in need more important than having to wait five extra minutes in line?

With all of the wonderful warm weather last week we made several trips to Alki. The boys love it! They just dig, dig and dig some more. Watching them I remembered when it was just Judah and I playing on Alki beach. He’s the same today as he was back then. Loves to dig and throw rocks in the water. Harper loves to do whatever Judah is doing. So we had quite a few fights over who gets which shovel. I didn’t have my camera. BOO! Though I do have this photo of Judah and I from two years ago.IMG_2435

You can lower your exposure to pesticides by 90 percent just by choosing organic varieties of certain fruits and veggies. If just 1 percent of the nation’s farmlands converted to organic (non-chemical) agricultural systems, it would remove twenty-six million pounds of pesticides per year from the food we eat and from the environment. If you buy organic, you’ll encourage this type of farming.
